Weddings
IMPORTANT: WEDDINGS ARE NOT BEING SCHEDULED AT THIS TIME. WE WILL BEGIN SCHEDULING WEDDINGS FOLLOWING THE COMPLETION OF REMAINING CONSTRUCTION WORK WHICH IS EXPECTED TO BE BUT NOT GUARANTEED IN THE WINTER OF 2025.
NOTE: The Church of the Assumption cannot schedule a wedding, or even discuss possible dates, until the pre-nuptial interview is completed.
For those who have completed the pre-nuptial interview and are seeking to be married at the Church of the Assumption, your first point of contact is Mrs. Karan Pagan, our wedding coordinator, whose contact information is at the bottom of this page. Mrs. Pagan will explain the process and assist you in setting up your prenuptial interview with Fr Price.
For Reference: We only book weddings on Fridays and Saturdays at either 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM. We recommend that you not sign any contract or pay any fees and deposits with venues and vendors before your prenuptial interview with the clergy and the booking of the ceremony. We are not able to change our practices to meet venue and vendor arrangements.
You will need a minimum of six months preparation time from your initial meeting with clergy until your marriage celebration. Please note that we will not change our preparation timeline to meet your date if you contact us less than six months from your ceremony date.
Marriage Preparation & Weddings
Required Steps in the order listed
- Complete your pre-nuptial interview.
- Contact Mrs. Pagan and arrange a meeting to complete the Pre-Nuptial Questionnaire. Note: DO NOT contact the church office regarding weddings. Mrs. Pagan will be your point of contact for weddings.
- Contact the priest or deacon you wish to celebrate your wedding with you and secure their commitment. A wedding may be celebrated within the context of a Mass or without it. One of the parties to the marriage must be a Catholic in good standing. Normally if the marriage is between a Catholic and a Non-Catholic, the Nuptial Mass is not celebrated.
- Once you have completed the preceding, Mrs. Pagan will schedule the date and time of the wedding. Please remember that marriages are not allowed on certain days and seasons in the year as proscribed by Canon Law.
- Once a date is set, a contract will be sent to you. Upon its satisfactory completion and receipt, you may begin planning your ceremony with Mrs. Pagan. It is at this time that, should you have a private wedding planner, you should inform them that our wedding coordinator will oversee the rehearsal and ceremony logistics and has final say in any such matters. Therefore, outside wedding planners are should not plan to attend the rehearsal.
- Fr Price will require a minimum of three additional meetings for final preparations as needed. If a different priest or deacon is officiating at your wedding and handling your marriage preparation, he may have different requirements.
- The Church of St Mary of the Seven Sorrows offers an excellent retreat
“Three to Get Married”, for engaged couples. This weekend long retreat may be used in place of private preparation by Fr. Price or another priest or deacon. If you choose this retreat as your marriage preparation you must still allow for six months between contacting the Church and the ceremony. Additional reading material is available
here.
- All couples are responsible for following our wedding guidelines. Mrs. Pagan will provide you with a copy of these at your initial meeting. Before signing your contract, you are expected to read them thoroughly and to refer to them often as you plan. Most questions can be answered by reviewing these guidelines. You may access draft of the Wedding Policies here. (Note: This document is currently password protected subject to the completio and internal review).
